The Name 'Apsycti'

What does 'Apsycti' mean exactly and why did I chose it as a name for the company?

As I understand, 'apsycti' is latin, and means the preciuos stones used in jewelry; someone who knows latin might be able to provide a much more precise definition. As to why I chose it to represent my endeavours into the game industry... well... atleast it was available, and hardly used (maybe just a little wear and tear).

Veruke



Veruke TitleIn-game title

Veruke is a vertically scrolling shoot 'em up that takes elements from old classics -from Aleste to Zanac- and blends them together.

Veruke supports modding, and -at the moment- has two modes of play defined: the arcade mode and the normal mode (aka. the story mode).

The arcade mode is your standard fare; pick up powerups and shoot at everything.

The normal mode -on the other hand- is a bit more complex;
Akin to games like 'Tyrian' and 'Raptor: Call of the Shadows', the player can choose the missions (levels) to fly, and after each mission, the player has the option of bying weapons and upgrades with credits earned by destroying enemies and completing mission objectives.

Note 1: Mods for this game will be made available on this site and elsewhere.

Note 2: The 'interim demo' will only contain bits of the arcade mode.

'Starcology' is a colony construction and management game with some real-time strategy elements. The gameplay will resemble old classics, like 'Utopia: The Creation of a Nation' and 'Fragile Allegiance'

The player is tasked to build a viable, self sustaining colony on a hostile alien world; The player has to provide a high quality of life by efficiently managing the colony's economy, construction projects and research, all the while protecting the colony from natural disasters and hostile forces.

The game will contain multiple (unlockable) planets to colonize, each world having its own characteristics.

Perfidious Pumpkin Puzzles

'Perfidious Pumpkin Puzzles' is a lighthearted halloween themed puzzle game, it contains two modes of play: 'score mode' and 'puzzle mode'; The objective is to get all of the golden skulls by solving puzzles and having a very high score (over 100k) in the score mode.

Some of the later ('ghost') puzzles can be very challenging, but can be solved within the tap limit.

Qtio

LumNorm

'LumNorm' is a small tool that creates a normalmap from the texture luminocity (the bumpmap). The next version will support parallax and parallax occlusion mapping, and texture compression among other things.

TAF Builder

'Texture Asset File Builder' is used to compress textures into a custom archive format. I use this only with PC game development; the idea is to preload archived textures for the shaders.

OTHER PROJECTS




Scripting Language

A custom game scripting language I'm working on.
The working title at the moment is 'Ode Script'.

The language is going to be very dynamic: variables can be reassigned - from a number type to a string type for example - and new members can be added to objects and old ones removed very easily.

The working prototype/alpha has most of the basic dynamic functionality, and can already convert the 'Ode' objects to JSON strings.

Earlier version of the scripting language is in use in my in-house level editor for the Veruke project. The level editor will be integrated into the game when I have upgraded the editor with newer script core that has more functionality.
